The Bad: Patrick Kanyuka

Patrick Kanyuka had played for QPR and Swindon Town before Steve Tilson brought him to Lincoln in January 2011. His debut came in the two-one win at Bradford City, where he supplied the cross for our equaliser but was replaced at half-time. Unfortunately, that victory proved a misleading introduction to a spell that produced just two starts and four substitute appearances.

He featured in the five-one defeat against Shrewsbury Town and the draw at Macclesfield Town, where a late equaliser cost us two points that would ultimately have been enough for survival. His final appearance was the six-nil home defeat against Rotherham United. Already four down, we lost Kanyuka to a second yellow card after 62 minutes, with Rotherham scoring the resulting penalty before adding a sixth.

He never played for us again, although he was hardly alone in failing to deliver during that dreadful period. There was one final twist the following season when he appeared for Tamworth in their four-nil win against Lincoln, the result that brought Tilson’s reign to an end. Every cloud and all that.
