Danny Rowe is an Imp

I know it isn’t the juiciest of transfer information, given that Mick McCarthy blurted it out three weeks ago, but yesterday saw the official unveiling of Danny Rowe as a Lincoln City player.

He joins on loan for six months from Ipswich with a promise from Big Mick that if he impresses, he could force his way into first team plans at Portman Road. Similarly, I imagine if he doesn’t impress them enough he is still in a great position to earn himself a move to a League One club (us) next season.

The value of the signing shouldn’t be under estimated. We’ve just had a Christmas period where children fervently unwrap one present before moving on to another, almost disregarding the first and I feel often our transfer news is like that. I’ve seen lots of posts of ‘right, that’s Rowe, who is next’. His arrival yesterday barely warranted a mention on the various social media outlets. ‘Wow, we knew about that two weeks ago‘ seemed to be the theme. Of course, we all know what he’ll bring to the squad.

He’s classed as a winger but can also play through the centre and there’s just something about him I really like. He’s quick and tricky impressed enough to jump four divisions to sign for Ipswich? His chances may have been limited, but a loss of form, as we know, is temporary. Class is permanent and he’s oozed class whenever I’ve seen him in a Macclesfield shirt. I think he’s prime Cowley material, a player who has stepped up and found it tough going, but now has a point to prove.

The next twenty-odd days will be packed with speculation, twists and turns, but the arrival of Danny Rowe is a wonderful starter for ten. Danny says he’ll get us up off our seats, which is pretty much in keeping with his entire reign as manager. If Rowe helps ensure similar success then I’m guaranteed not to be sat down for five months.
