Things are happening now that could trigger a chain of events for City. There’s no solid news from Sincil Bank as yet, but the next hour should prove interesting.
Firstly, Southend have signed Freddie Ladapo, a centre forward from Crystal Palace. he’s the second striker to move to Roots Hall today and that can surely only mean one thing: one is on his way. Theo Robinson has been heavily linked with a return to Lincoln, will it be announced now Southend have made their move?
Grimsby have also gone for a forward, they’ve brought in Simeon Jackson from Walsall. There has been a suggestion that we’re swapping a player for one of theirs, possibly forward Sam Jones. Is that now going to happen? Or is the Grimsby rumour a red herring that has been floated about by an eager agent?
Stevenage have taken veteran striker Dean Bowditch, but that is unlikely to affect The Imps. They’ve also signed attacking midfielder John Goddard, although he looks like a replacement for Tom Pett. It does possibly rule out Stevenage as a destination for Ricky Miller, but I’ve heard unconfirmed reports of him heading to Nottingham this very minute to sign a deal with Notts County. How true is that? We’ll see in the next two hours and forty six minutes.
Amusingly, League One club Gillingham have signed former FGR striker Rhys Murphy on a short-term contract. He arrives at Priestfield as a free agent after his Forest Green contract was terminated by mutual consent on 8 January. Another one who got on well with Cooperman then!
