Winger Tom Pett, as predicted here this morning, has become the first deadline day signing at Sincil Bank.
Pett was a rumoured target in the summer after turning down a new Stevenage deal, but they kept him at the Lamex for the first six months of the season. He’s primarily a winger, something we know Danny places a lot of value in, but he can operate through the centre if required.
Speaking to redimps.com, Pett said: “I can’t wait, I saw the game last night, it gave me a taste of what’s to come. I can’t wait to get to the training ground, meet all the lads and kick on this Saturday with three points. The crowd are not quiet, which is massive for a player, it’s one of the main things when I heard Lincoln were interested in me. I remember coming here around Christmas time and the crowd were loud and worked as the twelfth man, I know it’s a cliché but it really does (make a difference). That was massive in my decision in coming here, I want to play in front of big crowds here and the followings when we go away from home.”
Big loss. Really missed his spark last night. But if he’s out of contract in the Summer anyway and with no chance of making playoffs, better to get a fee

Pett is a good signing, a player who Stevenage were very keen to keep hold of. He arrives for the now-standard ‘undisclosed fee’ and will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s match with Swindon, having played 34 times for Stevenage already this season, scoring 7 goals. He’s had a stellar season so far, a brace on New Year’s Day saw Stevenage beat Cheltenham 4-1. He’s one of the more highly-rated player in this division and normally his arrival would be seen as incredibly impressive. With the number of wingers we’ve got and the quality we’ve already added, it might seem to be underwhelming, but that isn’t the case. When Danny Rowe and Jordan Williams return to their clubs in May, Pett will still be an Imp.
What this means for Nathan Arnold, one can only speculate, as it currently leaves us with more wingers than anything. The next Imps move is awaited with baited breath.
Just contacted a guy who works for me from Stevenage and he said “he was a shining light compared to the other 10 on the pitch”!! Let’s hope he’s right
We can’t wait to see the training ground as well.
