That’s it folks, that’s your lot. The transfer window has shut and Michael Hortin has spoken. The business has been done.
Only it hasn’t, has it? We’ve not actually brought in the striker we believed was coming in, have we? For the second window in a row, it appears something has gone wrong. Everyone was certain we were bringing in another forward, even those close to the club. Remember, Michael tweeted earlier that the reason for the delay would ‘all become clear’. Well, it is as clear as mud right not.
I’m not going to moan, we’ve done some super business this window and brought in some top quality players, but we haven’t added that elusive fourth striker, again. With one defeat in fourteen matches it would be remiss to start wailing ‘woe is us’, but if Matt Green picks up a knock or a suspension, to put it politely, we’re up the brown creek without a paddle. Ollie Palmer has his attributes, playing ninety minutes as part of an effective team is not one of them. He’s an impact player, not a starter. Rheady isn’t mobile enough to lead the line himself, so then what?
✍️We’ve done some fantastic business this window!

I’m surprised, very surprised, at the lack of activity on the striker front. Have we been done over at last-minute again? Were we one of the Ricky Miller clubs, or were we waiting on a deal that didn’t happen? Barnet’s business went through late again, was Akinola part of that and we lost out? Has Evans done us over with a promise of Lee Angol, only to withdraw it at last-minute?
Knowing Danny, he will be as honest with us as he can be, but clearly something has not gone to plan. Maybe there’s been some paperwork sent off and we’ll hear news in the morning, that is a possibility. After all, several deals get announced the day after so perhaps we’re one of them.
However, once again, Imps go to bed on deadline day still wondering if a player is coming, going or staying. Thanks for sticking with me all day folks, we’ll see if tomorrow brings any good news.
Great coverage again Gaz… still a great transfer window when you digest who we’ve got.
I am hoping that we will wake up to find a striker has arrived. We certainly, if Matt Green is injured for any length of time, will be in the mire. Up in the Newcastle area it is claimed that N’castle have sined a Leicester striker and a keeper but as yet, they do not show on the “official transfers”. Fingers crossed that the Imps haven’t yet declared their signing!!!!
I enjoyed your coverage too but, can’t share your disappointment at not signing an out and out striker. I believe we’ve had an excellent transfer window and have enough depth in attacking positions to cover most eventualities, both Williams and Pett have experience at playing right up front, clearly Palmer has too and there are a lot of us out there who rate him more highly than you. I’m sure we’ll be fine 8 good players signed during the window and as far as we know only one leaving must leave us in a very healthy position for the rest of the season.
