The Imps are due to sign Bristol Rovers keeper Sam Slocombe on loan as cover for Josh Vickers (pictured top).
The Bristol Post reports that he is poised to complete a loan switch, despite starting the season as the number one for the League One side.
He’s since fallen out of favour and is keen to return to Lincolnshire, as he’s originally from Scunthorpe. The Imps have yet to confirm the move, but reports in Bristol seem to indicate it is definitely going ahead.
City are in desperate need of a new keeper after Josh Vickers picked up yet another injury, but whether Slocombe will replace him or play as understudy to Grant Smith remains to be seen. Smith is expected to make his second start for City this evening, carrying on from his clean sheet against Port Vale in the cup.
30-year old Slocombe played 115 times for Scunthorpe before moves to Oxford, Blackpool and finally Bristol Rovers.
