The Imps have moved to allay fears over Josh Vickers’ current injury issues by bringing in Matt Gilks, a former Premier League keeper.
The former Scotland keeper played for Blackpool in the Premier League alongside Neal Eardley and is arriving presumably as cover for Josh in the event of further injury. Grant Smith has deputised of late, but 36-year-old Gilks will now provide additional support to those two.
Gilks has also played for Norwich City and Rochdale and arrives from Scunthorpe United. Whether he’ll feature regularly is another question, but he replaces the outgoing Sam Slocombe who went back to Bristol Rovers.
Hopefully, there’s nobody with an axe to wield with Gilks because poor old Lee Angol is getting it all.
Elsewhere, Ben Liddle has agreed a switch from Middlesbrough to Forest Green.
