The thank you article: Oldham Athletic

No Thanks: Lance Key

Before John Beck, Lincoln were in utter turmoil. In fairness, we were after as well, but right before the controversial manager showed up, we had a keeper called Lance Key on loan.

Lance made just five appearances for the Imps on loan from Sheffield Wednesday at the start of the tumultuous 1995/96 season. His debut saw us beat Preston North End 2-1, but then he conceded 11 in just four further games before being replaced by John Vaughan.

He had previously had a five game spell in the sticks for Oldham too, also on loan. If only they’d taught him something, like how to catch a football.

The bulk of his appearances came at Northwich Victoria, Histon and Kingstonian.
