GK: Simon Rayner
Canadian Rayner arrived at City as understudy for Alan Marriott and remained as his understudy without ever threatening to dislodge him from the first team.
He made his debut in a 1-1 draw with Chester in September 2004 and appeared again in the Football League Trophy a few days later. He then waited a year before another run of three games, ending with a 1-0 home defeat by Cheltenham.
It was then another 12 months before he featured again, this time in a Carling Cup defeat to Scunthorpe, and again as a sub in a trophy game against Grimsby. However, the lack of first team chances resulted in him going out on loan to Torquay, before the move was made permanent at the end of the season.
