The Imps capture of Jake Hesketh has certainly got a few fans worked up on the south coast.
The attacking midfielder is a strong signing for a club at our level, a point he proved with a solid spell at Burton Albion last season. He’s young, ambitious and is highly rated at St Mary’s.
He’s had a couple of Premier League outings and at one point he was widely believed to be the next big thing to come out of their youth setup. Remember, this is the same academy that produced Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott and Nile Ranger….
Okay, maybe not Ranger, but Luke Shaw, Wayne Bridge and Adam Lallana have come through with the Saints. They produce good players and Hesketh was thought to be the next one on the list.
The fact they’re not letting him leave for free, or permanently, does indicate they think there’s value there, but these supporters on Twitter are not happy anyway. They think they should either sell him on or keep him at the club.
There are a few who see the value in him coming to Lincoln though, as I’m sure the academy team at Southampton do.
What’s the point?

Game time, experience, confidence, personal and professional development, a chance to stake a claim for his parent club, play in a physically challenging league with a decent side? ?Good luck for the season Jake. ?

He's already been at MK Dons and Burton? How many other clubs do he need to sample to be ready?

Should be permanent. For his sake.

Hesketh has not been handled well at all. He should be on the involved with the first team by now. Or at least least send him to the Championship. I totally feel for him.

I always thought he had the potential to play for the 1st team !

Thats fine. We have a bloated squad and the fringe 'nippers' need to play every week or there abouts to see what they are like in competitive action. Ralph wants to see it. Like I say, if doesnt happen for him now, it won't here. All very Isgrove isn't it? Either way GL to him.

If what I’ve read about him is true and Danny can tap into it, he could be our best signing to date. Heady days.
