The Imps have secured the season-long loan capture of Southampton midfielder Jake Hesketh.
Danny said he’d be relying on his football friends, with a link to Southampton apparently coming up trumps. 23-year-old Hesketh has previously been with MK Dons and Burton Albion and plays in an attacking midfield role.
He scored twice in 16 matches for the Dons last season, with two goals in 23 League One matches for Burton in the first half of last season.
He has played in the Premier League, given a debut by Ronald Koeman against Manchester United then a first start against Burnley the week after.
“I’m really excited, when the opportunity came up it’s something I wanted to take,” he told the club’s official site. “Playing against Lincoln last season when I was at MK, I could see what the club was about and then all the fans that came down that day. It was a massive statement, I don’t think many people get that at home never mind take that many away, so it was very impressive.”
His arrival could well see the departure of Ellis Champman on loan, Danny has previously stated he wanted Ellis to be playing regular games and another midfielder hints at a possible outgoing player, rather than simply squad congestion.
We’ll be doing our usual rundown on his stats before the end of the afternoon.
