RIGHT MIDFIELD: BOHAN DIXON
A bit of a meme amongst Lincoln City fans that had to sit through Mr Dixon run around like a headless chicken after the ball. Dixon’s stay at Lincoln was not only massively underwhelming but a bit of a joke. Dixon arrived on a one-year deal following his release from Accrington Stanley. Although we all mock the advert questioning who they are, it was Dixon that Imps fans were questioning the identity of following a string of unimpressive performances. The tall wide man scored seven times for the Imps that season and dropped significantly further down the ladder following his spell with Lincoln. He would turn out for another eight clubs in a four-year spell. The last of which being Warrington Town, where he remains.

CENTRAL MIDFIELD: ALI FUSEINI
This little rock of dynamite optimised our time in the non-league system, even though he was shifted out of the club just four months into our adventure down there. Fuseini was signed in the middle of the relegation season. He was more well known from his time with Millwall, where he made 76 appearances from 2006-2010. Looking back, he probably wasn’t the right character to come into a side that were facing the possibility of relegation out of the Football League. He was accused of being a small angry man who often was a passenger in the midfield. Part of that weak spine that saw us relegated on the final day. Following his release from the Imps, he would go on to make a solid one appearance for Eastleigh before taking part on a tour of all the southern National League sides. Two spells at Bromley with Sutton United sandwiched in the middle was followed by a drop to Margate and Greenwich Borough. According to his Wikipedia page he is currently playing for VCD Athletic, a team from south-east London.
CENTRAL MIDFIELD: TOM CHAMPION
Probably the one of the only signings that Danny Cowley made that didn’t add value to the squad. Tom Champion on paper looked a good signing. He had past experience of getting out of the National League and was instrumental in helping Cambridge United win promotion. He then rocked up at Barnet but struggled to nail down a starting place there and was loaned out to Lincoln City in September of 2016. It wasn’t what he was trying was awful, it was the way he executed it. He strolled around like he was the best player to ever grace a football pitch but quickly the Imps faithful turned on him and he was sent back to Barnet, never to be seen in a Lincoln shirt again. To quote his Wikipedia page: ” A month later his loan was terminated by mutual consent because he was absolutely shocking.” That says everything about Tom Champion in a City shirt that you need to know.
LEFT MIDFIELD: PETER BORE
One of the several ex-Grimsby men to make the leap across Lincolnshire during our tenure in the Conference. Bore never hit the ground running at Sincil Bank which was surprising considering the impact he had made with the Mariners. Another utility player who was pacey but lacked end product. He was signed from Harrogate Town on deadline day in January 2012 but spent a long time on the injury table which halted his progression. Bore scored twice for the Imps and left for Gateshead a year after signing. The latter stages of his career have seen Bore tour Lincolnshire appearing for Boston, Spalding and lastly Cleethorpes Town.

Completely disagree with Holdsworth. He was handed an horrendous task. And he did what was needed in clearing people out. However it cannot be overlooked what he did nearly taking us down. But Tilson is far far worse for me.
Elliot Parish has to be the worst keeper. Not all his fault, he was young and inexperienced, but we had Joe Anyon sat on the bench watching him. Tilson didn’t fancy Anyon until he found out that he was a decent keeper the following season.
Can’t believe you’ve chosen Reg Holdsworth. He was a country mile better than Tilson (who must be up there with Allan Clarke as our worst ever manager) and, as Gary has regularly stated, did his best to keep the club going during some desperate times. The rest I can’t really argue with although I think you’re being a bit unfair on Nicky Nicalau who always gave 100% in an Imps shirt. Looking back it seems we have been blessed with some excellent full backs so I’d have to give it to Sean Newton based on his attitude alone.
Sorry but this team is massively weighted towards short term punts taken by managers who had no real cash to work with. Our real worst XI would be the overpaid lazy wasters who took us down in 2011 – plus Bradley Wood for souring some of the most glorious moments in our history.
Re Tony Diagne, information elsewhere indicates that after leaving City for a spell with Macclesfield he
played for Hemel Hempstead and then Barrow who he was with during the 2017/18 season. Can’t find anything after that date.
Tilson. Absolutely no doubt at all.
