The first entry doubtless inspired by some of the newer fans, Liam Bridcutt is a member of the current squad. Having played for Leeds, Forest, Sunderland and been on the books of Chelsea, his is perhaps one of the most high-profile in the Top 100. With respect, his inclusion is reflective of this being a list of generational players, having thus far had little time to impress himself upon the squad.

Lee Beevers is a much-loved Lincoln lad, a two-time Imp who helped us to promotion from the National League in 2016/17. Prior to that, he was a key part of the play-off squad in 2005/06, as well as 2006/07. Later played for Colchester and Walsall, both tier-three clubs at the time, as well as Mansfield Town.

Best known as the Imps two-time manager, Keith’s playing days with City were limited. He scored four goals in just under 50 appearances, but went on to become one of the most respected managers the club has ever had. His inclusion as a player is a surprise, but it is nice to be able to include him on the list in some capacity.

Walker is the first player on the list that was never a permanent part of the squad, but his six months at the club arguably meant the difference between trips to Sunderland to Stevenage this season. Whilst it may seem to be a reflection of how current he is, there is no denying the Coventry striker’s talent, nor his input. 14 goals in 29 games left him on course for 25, had he remained an Imp and had the season finished. A player who I feel history will judge just as well should we end up doing one of these in five years time.

80                           Phil Turner

With 239 league outings for City, Phil Turner was a key figure for us in the mid-eighties. he left the Imps in a swap deal for Gary Lund, another of the top 100, and later captained Notts County in the top flight alongside Lund. turner joined City as a 14-year-old and was voted at 62 in the legends vote back in 2007.

79                           Phil Brown

there is no doubt that success makes some players stick in your mind and forward Phil Brown is the third GMVC winner to make the list already. Alongside John McGinley he hit 20 goals, with the pair returning 40 between them all season. Brown’s late strike against Boston on Boxing Day created a lifetime memory for fans who were there (I was not), as did his clincher against Wycombe in May 1988.

Flying wingers are always good for a vote like this, as are players who get memorable goals. David Johnson is included arguably for his great cup goals, whilst Andrade’s strike against Ipswich is a sure-fire reason for his inclusion. The attacker was a title-winner in 2018/19 and certainly chipped in with plenty of efforts, including a great run of six goals in four matches in February 2019 which edged us towards the title.

Thommo lets one fly against Halifax

Thommo is well-known by old and young fans for his punditry on the radio, but he was also a top player for the Imps across two spells. He formed a great partnership with Trevor Peake in the heart of the Imps defence and later returned from playing top-flight football to captain and manage the club. He came 48th in the 2007 legends vote, and despite the passing of time, his efforts are still fondly remembered.

76                           Scott Kerr

Scott Kerr was a solid member of the squad during challenging times, joining after the 2005 play-off assault as the side was changing rapidly. He captained the Imps proudly and was never left wanting for effort, or endeavour. He had to prove himself to Peter Jackson, who didn’t fancy him and then did, then again to Chris Sutton who also dropped him and then turned back to him. Sadly, Steve Tilson got rid, City were relegated and Kerr helped York get promoted.

That’s it, be sure to drop by tomorrow for places 51-75.
