Name: Ethan Ross
Born: 6 March 1997, Ashington
Former Club: Colchester

2020/21: Appearance 2 (0) (up to 22/02/21)
Goalkeeper Ross began his youth career with Arsenal and Cambridge United, before joining West Bromwich Albion. During his time with the Baggies, he gained senior experience in the non-league with Worcester City, for whom he appeared 35 times across two spells, and Redditch where he played 20 matches.
Following his release from the Hawthorns, Ethan joined Colchester United, and had a short spell on loan with Maidstone in the National League, making his debut against Hartlepool in a 2-1 win. Interestingly, former Imps keeper Scott Loach was his opposite number that afternoon.
He swiftly found himself returning to Colchester, making his professional debut in a 1-1 draw against Yeovil Town as a sub for Dillon Barnes, who was sent off on 55 minutes. As a result of the suspension, he made his full debut the week after, keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 win against MK Dons, before keeping a clean sheet against us on the final day of the 2018/19 season.
In his final season with the Us, the young stopper appeared just once in the league, keeping a clean sheet as they beat Carlisle 3-0. He also appeared in all four of their Leasing.com Trophy matches, with a clean sheet again, this time at home to a strong Ipswich side.
He was one of the first acquisitions of the 2020 post-season for Michael Appleton, joining in late July. Upon signing for the club, he said; “I’m over the moon, once I found there was interest from Lincoln, I was really excited to see what that beheld.” He was aware he would be playing second fiddle to another keeper though, adding “I’m fully aware that I won’t be the only goalkeeper at the club and I know they’re not going to bring someone in who doesn’t want to play football. I know I’m going to have to compete and fight every day.”
Despite playing in all of the pre-season fixtures, Ethan lost his place to Alex Palmer when he joined on loan from West Brom. He made his Lincoln debut in the Papa John’s Trophy as we beat Mansfield 3-1, also appearing against Manchester City Under 21s. In that game, a late error from him gifted them a goal, and despite saving a penalty in the shoot-out, he lost his place to Palmer for the next round.
On January 5, he joined National League strugglers Weymouth on loan until the end of the season. He conceded three on his debut, the same day he joined the club, but kept impressive back-to-back clean sheets against Hartlepool and Aldershot as they jumped up the table. As of February 22nd, he has appeared eight times for his temporary employers, keeping three clean sheets.
