Michael has admitted recently that he’s keen on bringing in up to four players before the window closes.
We know one of those will include a defender, and today’s news seems to suggest we’re hoping to buy a striker too. With just three loan players in the squad, there’s every chance the remaining two, if the budget allows, will be loan players from the Premier League, or maybe the Championship. Last season, we had great success with Brennan Johnson and Morgan Rogers in attacking areas, and we do still look light in some of those positions.
As I often do around this time, I’ve scoured last season’s loans in our division, and identified a handful of players who spent time on loan in the EFL last season who are still currently without a club this campaign. I have only included those who are contracted to a Premier League side, but unlikely to get much game time, and only those who played senior football at this level last season.
I know some of you don’t like these articles, so please move swiftly on. However, it shouldn’t be forgotten that in one I did on free agents at the beginning of the summer, I did inadvertently identify a summer target, Hakeeb Adelakun, successfully. Who knows, in casting my net far and wide this time, I might just be catching the next Brennan Johnson.
Here’s hoping!
