One of the missed opportunities on Deadline Day was a keeper coming in, allowing Sam Long to head out on loan.
Sam is a big hope for the future, a player we expect to see making many Lincoln City appearances, but right now, he probably won’t. We’re eager to get him out on loan but can only do so if we sign a keeper to cover him. Young Matt Boylan made the bench for the Bradford game, but there’s a real desire to get a new face in. In fact, after listening to the Hope and Glory podcast, it seems we’re going to target a free agent keeper to cover for Josh Griffiths.
That would allow Sam to move out on loan – he can still drop into the National League on loan should we wish him to. There have been strong rumours he could head to Gainsborough Trinity, but some supporters feel he could do a job in a division higher, perhaps even the National League. After his outing against Bradford, it would be hard to argue against that.
Who might be on our radar in terms of free agents? Once again, I’ve been scouring Transfermarkt for the sort of article you love to read, and I love to write when there’s no game to report on or preview!
