Europa League, Internationals & Redditch – Where Are These Former Imps Now?

Mensah, like Crookes (and quite a few others that season) came and went quickly during our title-winning season. It’s only when you look back you realise how well-backed we’d been – he was a League One player with Bristol Rovers and had even trained with the Ghana squad at one point. He played eight matches for us, four in the league, but didn’t impress and returned to Bristol Rovers.

Since then, it’s been a downward trajectory for him; he’s been on loan at Aldershot and Maidenhead in the National League, then played for Gloucester in the National League North, and he’s now with Redditch United.

James Brown

James Brown didn’t play for the Imps. He came in on loan as cover in defence, but we never needed him and he went without kicking a ball – he was an unused sub on four occasions before returning to Millwall, where I expected to hear nothing of him again.

Sometimes, when I do these articles, I get a pleasant surprise, and reading about James Brown was one of those moments. After us, he moved to St Johnstone on loan and then secured a permanent move this season. He’s going from strength to strength as well – he scored for them on November 6th as they beat Rangers 2-1, and in September, he was called up to represent Malta in a friendly against Israel, where he played 45 minutes.
