Ten Non-League Gems City Could Eye Up This Summer

Emile Acquah – Maidenhead

If it’s another wildcard striker we’re after, we could do worse than Maidenhead’s Emile Acquah. Now, you’ll notice that more of the players I’m choosing are from down south – I think this is a trend in the National League. Young players from academies, or who have struggled in the Football League, often remain regional, and with the population density in the south, it means there’s more talent to choose from.

Acquah was one of the youth players that got matches during Southend’s last League One season, but he struggled to impose himself on their first team and move to Maidenhead. Since then, he’s impressed, and the 6ft 1 striker has 13 goals to his name this campaign. He’s been capped by England C, and at 22, has already made 73 senior appearances for his club.
