City have completed the signing of defender Tom Hamer on a three-year contract.
The 24-year-old joins the Imps from Burton Albion, where he made 147 appearances – scoring nine goals and assisting 17 times.
Hamer came through the ranks at Oldham Athletic and represented the senior team on more than 100 occasions before making the switch to the Sky Bet League One Brewers in 2021.
Tom said: “I’m really pleased to get the deal done. I been speaking to Jez George and Michael Skubala and I’m happy to get it over the line.
“I’m someone who works hard and give 100%. I am quite quick, decent in the air and also like to put a challenge in.”
Head coach Michael Skubala added: “Tom is a player that really suits how we want to play as a defensive unit. He fits our profile for an outside centre back, he’s a great age, has played 200+ games and we also believe has plenty more to come in his development as a player.
“Tom is also a real warrior on the pitch, has an ‘old school’ defender’s mentality and a really useful long throw, which will give us another attacking threat.”

The move continues a real shift in our recruitment policy, once again securing the services of a player for a fee, one who is at a stage where some potential has already been developed, but more could follow.
Crucially, almost all of our signings have some experience at this level, which means we have the duality of signing both for now, and the future.
This, in my opinion, is a real shift in focus from the last couple of years, keeping on eye on the future, but also just as keenly aware of the here and now.
Also, his throw is going to be an asset – as I wrote in 2021 “Their midfield three certainly looked comfortable in possession, and with the long throw on Tom Hamer that had a real threat from anywhere in range of the 18-yard box.”
More on this story later.
