After the frenzy of last night’s podcast, where we announced a signing live on air, The Stacey West understands that there is more to follow today.
We picked up Dom Jeffries from Gillingham yesterday, a player reportedly tracked by Millwall, Hibernian and Fehervar over the summer. Like JJ McKiernan, I get the strong impression there’s a huge amount of excitement around the club about the capture, and perhaps it wouldn’t have been possible without some of the funding that we’ve raised from recent sales.
Jeffries is another midfielder, and like a middle-aged man who likes fried food, we’re looking a bit bloated in the middle. That isn’t a bad thing (in football terms), as last season, we struggled to find players to fill those positions after key injuries. There’s a real sense of us not just having a strong squad but a genuine 22 who could be picked for the first team—that’s huge.
Of course, we are still a few key positions short, and that looks likely to be addressed very quickly. Sources close to the club told us on air that we’re likely to announce another signing today, without dropping any names. Could it be a loan keeper, or have we reinvested on someone more permanent? Are we looking at the areas we’re short in, mainly across the back, and going in on that? Will we even have a loan player this season?

The answers to these question lay not with me, but in the teasers and updates the club put out later on today. However, I am confident that by the time you get tucked up in bed this evening, Lincoln City’s squad will have at least one more face.
Don’t stray too far from those laptops/phones/tablets/secret windows on the work’s computer this sunny Friday.
Also, a huge happy birthday to my wife, @FionaBottrill on X, who will be the focus of most of my attention today. You can always trust the club to do business when I’m on holiday, or on another special occasion.
