As some of you know, on September 1st, Dad and I, along with others, will be walking from Bardney to Wragby for Cancer Research.
There are a few people joining us; Imps fan Claire Hunsley for one, as well as others. It’s all in aid of a chairty my dad has a lot of belief in after his recent journey, which you can read about here. In brief, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in September, and by the grace of God (and the skill of our beloved NHS) he was clear of it by Valentine’s Day.
The Shirt
In order to help boost the total, which is already close to double the £500 we initially went for, I’ve purchased and donated an Imps shirt, which is now signed by most of the 24/25 squad. That’s right – a brand new home shirt, signed by the likes of Ethan Hamilton, Ben House and Ethan Erhahon, to name but a few. It’s on eBay now, and every penny we get from it will go into the fund.
You can find details of the eBay listing here. I’m really hoping we see a generous bid to clear the £50 reserve (the shirt cost, so at least we put in as much as the shirt cost) and start heading up to, maybe, three figures. Who knows?
I might even be able to get a former Imp to present it to you on a matchday. Maybe. We’ll see.
The Walk
The walk is around seven miles long and suitable for anyone to join in. We’re asking anyone who is free on the day and wants to raise money for Cancer Research to join us, come and enjoy the beautiful countryside with us. All we ask is that you share the Just Giving page we’ve set up and raise £20 of your own. Also, let me know (gazhutch88@gmail.com) if you’re joining us as a fundraiser, and I can add you to the list of those taking part. I can also liaise with you closer to the time about lifts, as we’re not expecting anyone to walk back to get their car!
Our aim is to raise £500 more than £1000, and we’re almost there.
The Bardney to Wragby walk used to be an annual event, and who knows, if this one is a success, perhaps we can come together as a town and raise money for a good cause every year.
