The third and final shirt shirt to be auctioned for Cancer Research has just hit eBay.
For those who do not know, my dad and I have arranged a charity walk this weekend, from the village of Bardney to Wragby, in aid of Cancer Research. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer last year, but thanks to the wonderful NHS he was given the all clear early in the year. This has spurred him to do something for Cancer Research, which is this walk.
Many years ago my grandad, Geoff, was a member of Wragby Walking Club, and they did a yearly walk from Bardney to Wragby, along a 10-mile (ish) route. He was the reason my dad supported Lincoln and the reason I do as well. This is as much in his memory as anything, but the aim is to help fight cancer.
We’re going to be joined by a good number of people, including Imps fans Claire Hunsley, Mike Downs, Adam Bandelow, Steve Barton and Nick Oxberry. Family members are coming from Cambridge (Babs) and Carlisle (Mark), while the Stacey West are represented by myself, Chris and partners. Of course, Dad and Mo will be there and we’re setting off on Sunday at 11 am from the Old Angel at Bardney.
The intention was to raise around £500, but this has got really big, and we’re now looking towards five times that amount! The pot has been driven by two charity shirts – the first generously purchased by Mark Torkington, and the second, a TJ Eyoma signed, match-worn shirt, fetching £92 this morning.
Now, it’s the final shirt! Donated by Richard Harvey, it’s another match-worn TJ Eyoma shirt. It hasn’t been signed, but is still a lovely bit of kit, valuable for any collector. This is on a short auction, just three days, to coincide with the end of the walk. Details can be found below.
Our current total (3:35 pm, 29/08) is £2280, plus the £92 from today’s sale, meaning at £2378 we’re getting so close to the £2500 mark. This shirt should give us a good bump – please bid generously!
