For the fifth time since I started the site, the Stacey West has been nominated for a top award.
One of those nominations came with the Football Supporter’s Federation, and the other three from the Football Content awards. Today, the podcast has got it’s first nomination, one of 16 in the final.
A statement on their site says: “The Football Content Awards 2024 is thrilled to reveal the finalists for the Best Podcast – Football League category. These podcasts have showcased exceptional creativity, in-depth analysis, and a genuine passion for football, making them standout choices in a highly competitive field.”
The harsh truth is we’re up against some heavy hitters. My two favourite EFL Podcasts, Not The Top 20 and Undr The Cosh are nominated, as well as some from bigger clubs, such as Blackburn Roverseas, Blades Ramble and Bladespod. The term ‘rank outsider’ doesn’t quite cover it, but it’s hugely impressive to be nominated.
The final decision is now 50% judge-based and 50% vote-based, which makes it even tougher for us to make our mark, but it’s a massive win in our eyes to be nominated. I’m not one to go vote begging, although I’m sure the other boys will be happy to mention it and push. As a bit of an award veteran, I feel our journey in this particular field ends here, but ‘five-time award-nominated Stacey West’ does have a ring to it.
Still, thank you to whoever nominated us, and of course, thank you to all our listeners for helping to keep us going after so many episodes. Thanks to Ben, Chris, Charlie and Stu for their work over the last few months as well. It’s nice to have a little recognition.
