How Are Our Summer Exports Faring Elsewhere?

I was asked in our Patreon Discord channel whether I could put an article together looking at the players who left us over the summer.

I try to do as my Patreons wish, and so for this afternoon’ reading I have a look at how our departing stars have settled in their new environments.

Jordan Wright – Grimsby Town

The big stopper left for an undisclosed fee in the summer, but has had a tough time since. He failed to keep a clean sheet in his first five outings for the Mariners, leading to him being dropped for their September clash with Barrow. He was on the bench for two games, but then injured his shoulder in training and has been out injured since.

Lasse Sørensen – Huddersfield Town

Lasse got off to a flying start for Huddersfield Town, registering three assists in his first three matches. He’s been ever-present for Huddersfield, appearing in all 11 of their games, albeit once coming off the bench. He came off injured this weekend after just seven minutes of their 3-1 victory against Bristol Rovers and is currently out of action.

Jaden Brown – St Mirren

Brown only made 16 appearances for the Imps during his tenure with us, but he’s already closing in on that for St Mirren – he’s appeared 12 times for them this season, including a couple of outings in Europe. However, to make it a hat trick of injuries, he hasn’t featured since the end of September, missing three matches on the spin. His most recent social media post suggests he is starting a clothing brand.

Sam Long – Bromley

Sam moved on after graduating from our academy and having a solid season with Falkirk, and he’s playing second fiddle at Bromley. To date, he’s appeared three times for his new club, twice in the EFL Trophy and once in the EFL Cup. He’s conceded eight goals in total.

Lukas Jensen – Millwall

Jensen went to Millwall for a fee believed to be around the £500,000 mark, and he’s already proving to be a hit in South London. He’s kept three Championship clean sheets, but made 28 saves across his embryonic Millwall career. Given that we have a sell on clause (a good one, I believe), it’s imperative we keep seeing him doing well!

Elicha Ahui – Drogheda United

Drogheda are second bottom in the Irish top flight, but Ahui is proving to be something of a hit. The 20-year-old has turned out 12 times, scoring as his side put seven past Sligo Rovers. He’s playing right wing-back and since mid-September has played every minute of their league campaign.

Hayden Cann – Dundalk

Cann’s side, Dundalk, are bottom of the League of Ireland, and he’s had to serve a suspension. He was sent off for a professional foul against Sligo Rovers with the game poised at 1-1, but Ellis Chapman scored from the spot to give the home side the win – a Lincoln City double, of sorts. Cann got his place back for the last two matches, defeats against Galway and Derry City.

Teddy Bishop – Colchester United

It’s believed that Ted was offered the same wages as his previous contract, but only a year deal, and when he returned to us to sign the deal, it had been withdrawn as he’d been looking elsewhere. Surprisingly, he rocked up at Colchester United and should be smashing it in League Two. He’s not, because he’s injured. He made nine appearances, but picked up a knock at the end of September and is currently out of action.

Danny Mandroiu – Shamrock Rovers

At his best, one of the most technically gifted players of the last 20 years. At worst, disruptive and petulant. Mandroiu splits opinion, and after leaving the Imps he ended up back at Shamrock Rovers ahead of their European campaign. He scored a late leveller against Galway on his debut, but has not netted, nor provided an assist in ten outings since.

Hakeeb Adelakun – Salford City

After turning down a move to Doncaster, Haks turned up at Salford City following his Imps release. He got there late, only making his debut at the start of September, but he’s already impressing, with two goals and an assist. He’s been out injured, like many of the former Imps on this page, not making an appearance since 21st September.

 TJ Eyoma – Free Agent

As yet, and somewhat unbelievably in my eyes, TJ Eyoma has set to find a new club. There were rumours that Cheltenham and Colchester were interested in the former Spurs man, but criminally, he still doesn’t have a club.
