Defender Out For ‘Months’ In Latest Injury Blow

Lincoln City defender Tom Hamer will be out for ‘months’ as the injury list grows at Sincil Bank.

Hamer, who stepped into the side in the wake of Adam Jackson’s injury, came off just before half time of the 2-1 win against Northampton, after netting the opener from a set piece. He’ll be a big blow, and he’s not the only one the Imps are without this weekend.

In his pre-match press conference, Michael Skubala gave a clearer indication of the injury situation, which also includes Adam Jackson, Tyler Walker and Tom Bayliss.

“Jacko’s a few weeks off,” said Michael. “Tom Hamer had surgery yesterday, so he’ll be out for a few months. Other than the ones already mentioned, Tom Bayliss is still on his way back.

“So we’ve got our long terms there. They have not changed in the last week, but we’ve got no injuries from Monday, which is good.”

One player Imps haven’t seen much of in the last 18 months is Tyler Walker, but it seems we may see the former Coventry striker before Christmas, all being well.

“Tyler is also on his way back; he’s back on the grass this week, which is good, but he’s still quite a bit of time off.

“He’s still a way off, but he’s back on the grass, seeing him doing his rehab. So that’s good. He’s not back in team training yet. Hopefully, before Christmas, it would be good to see him.”

It’s not all doom and gloom. Centre-back Lewis Montsma missed the FA Cup win at Chesham, with Tendayi Darikwa filling in, but Michael confirmed the Dutch defender should be in contention for tomorrow’s fixture.

“Lewis is good and feeling fine. We’re just making sure to manage him carefully as he returns from a big injury, but he’s good to go.”

Finally, there’s the briefest hint that Ethan Erhahon might also return. He has been out of action since coming off in the Stockport win, but he’s described as ‘touch and go’ for the trip down the M5.

“Ethan’s touch and go for the weekend, so we’ll see,” added Michael. “Conor’s played there before, you know, Conor’s played there for years, so I think he’s done really well and he’s stepped in there, and ultimately he’s got the shirt there now as well.

“It’s not just making up the time for Ethan, he’s playing really well in there.”

The Imps will be looking to heap pressure on under-fire Gas boss Matty Taylor, whose side have had a difficult start to the season. It’s the first of two trips in eight days down the M5, with Exeter away coming next weekend.
