Lincoln City October Review

This is a little late, I’m afraid, but my workload has been crazy!

October was an interesting month and one in which we kept the pressure up on the sides above us. However, it certainly had highs and lows. With seven matches, we registered four wins, a draw and two defeats. In those matches, we saw two last-minute goals and three successive 2-1 home wins.

We also beat the Codheads, which is always nice.

Tu 01Oct  Blackpool 1 – 1 Lincoln

Sa 19Oct  Lincoln 1 – 3 Birmingham

As you know by now, The Stacey West allows the reader to rate each player after a game, coming up with a definite Player of the Month. To qualify, a player must have played in 50% of the games that month, and to get a rating a player must have been on the field of play for 15 minutes or more as a sub.

With that in mind, here is your Player of the Month and the best and worst of the team’s performances.

You can now check out all the winners of our monthly awards by going to our Roll of Honour page

Player of the Month

Tendayi Darikwa (7.55)

Tendayi Darikwa won his second Player of the Month award from you guys in October, for another series of outstanding displays.

The right-wing-back picked up three Man of the Match awards in October, with an 8.6 for his outing against Orient as the standout figure. He was also your MOM for the Crawley debacle and the win against Stockport County.

His experience has certainly helped the side, but he’s been one of our best players for the season so far.

Individual Performance of the Month

George Wickens (Blackpool) 8.9

Criticism comes easily to many, and for some reason, George has been under fire recently. However, it’s only last month since he turned in an outstanding display against Blackpool, facing six shots and making five saves. Four of those are described as ‘with reflexes’ making them more than just routine saves.

Best Team Performance of the Month

v Stockport County (H) 7.18

Bettering Orient and Northampton was our win against Stockport County. I suspect the motivator here was the early goal we conceded, and Ethan Erhahon’s injury. Both left us feeling like the odds were against us, but from minute one we were on it, and the 2-1 win left City supporters convinced looking up the table was the right thing to do. A big win.

Worst Team Performance of the Month

Crawley Town(A) – 4.69

This isn’t even a contest. The other game we lost, Birmingham, we came out of with some pride. A long Tuesday to Crawley, only to be done on the break three times, but offer little ourselves, was always going to come out at the bottom of a month’s ratings.
