Michael Skubala Issues Imps Injury Update

Lincoln City boss Michael Skubala has admitted a trio of missing players are back in some sort of training, but that this weekend’s fixture with Wycombe may come a little too soon.

Having reached the 50-point mark, City are all but safe, and rushing key players back might not be in their best interests. The missing trio are all contracted for next season; Jack Moylan, Freddie Draper and Ethan Erhahon, so have little to prove in the final matches of the season.

However, they are all back in some form of training, with Jack Moylan still the furthest off. When asked in his pre-match press conference how the popular midfielder was doing, former Leeds coach Skubala replied,

“Nothing much is changing really. Jack Moylan as you know, is great he’s running and on the grass.”

Ethan Erhahon, one of the club’s key players and most saleable assets, is also back on the grass, although the weekend will be a little too tight for him to return as well. Signed from St Mirren, the likeable Scot is back on the grass.

“Ethan Erhahon edges closer, he on the grass now as well.”

Finally, the shortest-term injury is that of Freddie Draper, our homegrown striker who had looked useful in recent weeks. Michael revealed better news around the 20-year-old, who has four goals to his name this season.

“Freddy is back in team training this week, which is good news. We’re getting bodies back, which is nice.”

When asked if any would likely to be on the bench with a view to a handful of minutes, Michael was honest, explaining that at least two of the three certainly wouldn’t make the squad.

“Maybe. Freddy’s just returned to team training, so it might be a bit early for him, but he’s very close. Ethan is still a few weeks away, and Jack is further off than that.”

That means it’s unlikely we’ll see a changed squad, and if there are no fresh concerns, City could even field the same XI for a third game in a row at Adams Park, a ground the Imps have not lost on since the start of the 2021/22 season.

However, with the Chairboys flying high and hoping for automatic promotion, it’s up to the Imps to be the spanner in the works, looking to still effect the outcome of the division, even if we won’t feature at the top, or bottom.
