Gareth McAuley

Europa League (2018–19)

Gareth McAuley featured in the Europa League during the 2018–19 season with Rangers, in a group-stage appearance against Spartak Moscow. Though approaching the end of his career at the time, McAuley brought experience and defensive solidity to a Rangers side competing on the European stage once again.

Earlier in his career, McAuley had been a key player for the Imps between 2004 and 2006, anchoring the defence during back-to-back play-off campaigns. His performances at Sincil Bank earned him a move up the pyramid and ultimately led to a long and successful career that included over 200 Premier League appearances and more than 80 international caps. His Europa League appearances were a fitting way to cap off a career of steady progression and consistent excellence.

Regan Poole

Europa League (2015–16)

Regan Poole made his European debut for Manchester United in the Europa League on 25 February 2016. He appeared as a late substitute in United’s 5–1 win over FC Midtjylland at Old Trafford, a game remembered for Marcus Rashford’s first-team breakthrough. Although Poole’s appearance was brief, it made him one of the youngest players to represent United in European competition at the time.

After leaving Old Trafford, Poole rebuilt his career with spells in the EFL before arriving at the Bank, where he established himself as a key defender and eventually captain. Known for his commitment and versatility, he played both centrally and at right-back. Poole left Lincoln for Portsmouth in 2023, but his time at Sincil Bank was widely regarded as one of the most impressive chapters of his career to date.
