Conor McGrandles

Hahaha, I’ve sneaked this one in on you, right?
I’m not talking about his first spell, nor his ill-fated loan which saw him get injured. No, I’m all over his current spell. We talk about record-breaking signings like Ivan Varfolomeev, million-pound players like Makama, or million-pound wannabes like Erhahon, and all the time, the club-styled Scottish Kaka gets on with his business.
Maybe the light has emerged from under the bushel this season, but I’m shouting McGrandles as an underrated signing. I remember when we got him back on deadline day, the news was greeted with a flat ‘meh’ from some fans. So, we’ve just got McGrandles back, who didn’t make it at Charlton and Cambridge.
Wrong. Cambridge couldn’t afford to keep him, but they loved him there for his industry and his application. he’s never found wandering back into position, never one to stand and watch after a man has beaten him. He’s a good, honest pro that typifies Michael Skubala’s sides – understated and underrated.
