Huddersfield’s Sean Roughan targets consistency
Huddersfield Town defender Sean Roughan says consistency is his priority as he aims to regain a regular League One starting spot. After beginning five of Town’s first eight league matches, the left-back has been benched for the last three, with Ruben Roosken preferred.
Roughan’s recent starts have come in the cups, completing 90 minutes against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup and Harrogate Town in the EFL Trophy.
Speaking to the club’s media channel after the 1-0 defeat at Harrogate, the 22-year-old discussed conversations with head coach Lee Grant and his own standards.
“I’ve had a few chats with the gaffer… I’m an honest person, I know when my performances aren’t there and I know what to do better. Over the last probably three games I’ve upped it, and have started enjoying it a lot more… I pride myself on consistency, and I haven’t done that this year, so I’ll try to get back to that, and fight for my spot back.”
Roughan, who made 149 appearances for Lincoln City across the final three years of his time at Sincil Bank, has featured 13 times for Huddersfield in all competitions this season. His short-term aim is to turn those cup minutes into a sustained league run.
