Welcome to our latest League One roundup, bringing you four of the big news stories from our division over the last 24 hours.
As we welcome back a trio of players from their international obligations, a couple of clubs in our division have taken issue with their players’ involvement. However, we start our roundup with a transfer nobody saw coming, that trumps Tim Akinola going to Arsenal.

Peterborough United: Released Defender Earns Chelsea Move
Peterborough United’s decision to release young centre-back Justin Osagie has drawn renewed attention after the defender signed for Chelsea’s U21s.
Osagie joined Posh in October 2024 after time with West Ham United’s academy and a spell at Celtic, but he did not make a first-team squad during his short stay at London Road. A loan to Peterborough Sports was disrupted by injury, and he departed in May 2025. Chelsea subsequently offered a trial over the summer, leading to an U21 contract.
His first involvement came as an unused substitute in a Vertu Trophy tie at Northampton Town earlier this season. Chelsea confirmed the deal on social media:
“Centre-back Justin Osagie has joined Chelsea Under-21s from Peterborough United. His first involvement came when he was named on the bench for the EFL Trophy match against Northampton Town.”
The 20-year-old’s route underscores how quickly pathways can change for development-squad players. However, he could look to Tim Akinola for a cautionary tale of what can happen after the top flight adventure ends.
