Cardiff City: Trott open to stay if promotion lands

Cardiff City goalkeeper Nathan Trott says remaining beyond this season “would make sense” if promotion is achieved, citing how much he has progressed in the current environment. The on-loan FC Copenhagen stopper, who joined in August, has impressed under Brian Barry-Murphy and is understood to have a purchase option attached to his deal.

“You never know how things will turn out, but if we get promoted, there’s a possibility I could be bought. If everything continues as it is, it would make sense for me to continue in the environment where I have developed so much.”

Local coverage in Wales has underlined his form and reiterated the existence of an option to buy, while reports in Denmark detail a strained relationship at his parent club last season.

For now, Trott’s focus is fixed on the weekend trip to Bolton Wanderers and maintaining a promotion push that has been built on clean sheets and control.
