AFC Wimbledon’s Leo Young joins Welling United on short-term loan

AFC Wimbledon centre-back Leo Young has joined Welling United on loan until November 19. The nineteen-year-old, a product of the Dons’ academy, signed his first professional contract in the summer of last year and captained the under-18s before senior minutes in non-league. Welling say the move bolsters defensive options during a congested period.

Club statement: “Welling United are delighted to confirm the arrival of defender Leo Young on loan from Sky Bet League One club AFC Wimbledon.”

Young spent time at Hastings United last season and had a subsequent stint with Havant & Waterlooville earlier this campaign, part of a pathway aimed at accelerating competitive experience.

Wimbledon continue to place academy graduates in targeted loans for regular football, with Young now set for a run at Park View Road.
