Rene Howe

Another of the scorers against Bradford, Howe was seen as something of a coup when he signed for us. He fitted with Sutton’s striking ethos as well, but left after sustaining an injury, later joining Gillingham on loan.

Howe played for several EFL and non-league clubs, enjoying his best spell with Torquay United, where he scored 14 and 16 goals in consecutive seasons and twice finished as the club’s top scorer. Later moves included Burton Albion, Newport County, and multiple returns to Kettering Town and Bedford Town, where he helped win the Southern League Division One Central title in 2022 and finished as top scorer with 27 goals.

Since retiring, Howe has built a coaching career, working as PDP Lead at Stevenage FC, an ex-Watford YDP coach, and founder of Howe2Coach Ltd.

Jamie Clarke

Jamie Clarke didn’t do much in football after leaving Lincoln.

Instead, he dropped out of professional football and became involved in criminal activity. In 2024, he was convicted at Leeds Crown Court of the kidnap and torture of Michael Dewar during a violent dispute over £300,000 worth of Class A drugs. Clarke, alongside Sakhawat Hussain, was found guilty of inflicting what the judge described as a “sadistic and humiliating” assault, which included scalding the victim’s genitals.

Both men were sentenced to 15 years in prison, marking a shocking fall from grace for the ex-Imps forward.
