Huddersfield Town: Lee Grant Calls Mansfield Trophy Tie ‘Massive’ Amid Losing Run

Huddersfield Town head coach Lee Grant described the EFL Trophy clash with Mansfield as “massive,” stressing a need to rebuild momentum after five successive defeats in all competitions. The Terriers were knocked out of the FA Cup at Bolton, and now face back-to-back home fixtures against Mansfield and Plymouth Argyle. Grant emphasised a single-game focus.

“The game on Tuesday is massive,” he told HTTV. “Momentum is key for us right now… it’s really go and attack the football match against Mansfield, and then carry that momentum into another big game for us at home to Plymouth.”

He wants a longer, more complete performance, not periods of control followed by dips.

“Whether it’s the first half performance good, or vice versa that we see today… we have to see it for longer, and we have to have a group that is pushing to find their best level for 95-96 minutes, whatever that needs to be.”

Grant admitted the team is “playing patchy” and said the group understands the stakes in the Trophy, with knockout qualification on the line. He added that the squad has set clear targets across competitions, and that Tuesday must be used to reset standards and regain belief.
