Football is a brutal business, and several talented players are currently being hawked around Scottish clubs (and presumably English) looking for a fresh start.
A list circulated by the PFA this week includes almost 100 names, with players such as Aaron Ramsey, Duncan Watmore and Tom Carroll included.
The PFA, headed by former Imp Maheta Molango, has been doing stellar work pushing their out-of-contract members and putting together the summer training camp. Even now, as we get deep into Autumn, they’re still trying to get their players deals with a club.
On the list are five former Imps, still looking for their fresh start – and I’ve listed them here for you.
Jaden Brown

Brown is one who, on paper, should be doing so much better. After coming through at Spurs, he spent time at Huddersfield, Exeter City and Sheffield Wednesday, before turning up at the Bank.
It’s believed that we signed Brown outside of the usual recruitment policy, in that an opportunity arose rather than intense scouting. He made 10 league appearances in the 2023–24 campaign, including his debut against Notts County in the EFL Cup, but by January 2024 he had moved to Scotland on loan with St Mirren.
Jaden never got going at Lincoln. He quickly fell out of favour with Mark Kennedy, but was given a chance by Michael Skubala, only to fall out of favour a second time. Upon completion of his loan, he returned to City, but was never likely to pull on the red and white again.
That switch was made permanent in June 2024, and he added a further seven Premiership outings before his contract was terminated later in the year, and shortly after, he pleaded guilty to driving offences. He’s yet to reappear with any club.
