Five Scottish Premiership Players Lincoln City Should Have An Eye On

I’m not talking about Celtic or Rangers here.

Let’s be honest, we’re not going to sign a player from either of those teams. It might be tough from Hearts and Hibs as well, but that doesn’t mean there is no value north of the border.

Ethan Erhahon, who has split opinion since leaving the club, did turn us a profit. Mark O’Hara wasn’t one we signed from up there, but he did impress during his time at City. There is definite value north of the border, but it’s a market you have to be careful in.

I remember writing about two players coming down at similar times – in 2018, John McGinn and Dylan McGeouch both left Hibernian for big English clubs, Aston Villa and Sunderland. The latter has since been named in the UEFA Europa Conference League Team of the Season. The former had 24 outings for Forest Green Rovers.

It’s a challenge to know how a player will do when adjusting to a new division, and with Scotland’s top flight being quite top-heavy, it’s hard to know if good really is good. Remember, Dan Nlundulu and Josh Ginnelly both get (or got) regular football in the SPFL, when both struggled in the bottom two divisions for us.

With that in mind, I’ve trawled the stats and watched some videos, and come up with five SPFL players it could be worth keeping an eye on – five I wouldn’t mind if we signed at all.
