Michael Skubala admitted he was frustrated with the 2-2 draw at Blackpool this afternoon, with the Imps having led 2-0.

Goals from Jack Moylan and Rob Street had put City in the driving seat, but a foul on Ashley Fletcher gave them a lifeline from the penalty spot.

It was Fletcher again six minutes from time causing the Imps problems, netting his tenth goal in 11 matches to give the Tangerines a share of the spoils.

“We’re frustrated,” said Michael in his post-match interview. “I think we’re disappointed, but more frustrated about the game and how it panned out because I thought there were loads of positives in the first half.

“We dominated the game. Our shape looked good. We’ve been trying to find a good shape to play away from home. I thought we looked solid. The lads executed the plan very well, and we were 2-0 up and we think we’re in control.

“We’re in control of the game and then a moment where we just need to clear our lines, deal with it Monday. One moment gets them back in it a little bit. So we go into one up but we were still okay.”

City still led 2-1 at the break, and had chances to restore the two-goal cushion. Twice we had the ball in the net, Adam Reach and Freddie Draper, only for both to be ruled offside.

However, a late goal from Fletcher, after what looked like a foul on Ryley Towler, levelled things, and Michael questioned that and the penalty.

“We’re frustrated by the goal. Even the lad shanked it, it’s gone into the nine, so it was a sloppy one and a messy one. But the frustrating thing I thought for their first goal where they slipped it down the side for the penalty, I don’t think it was a foul from what I could see, and then a similar situation where Ryley’s getting pushed in the back, it wasn’t a foul.

“I think the referee’s going to be disappointed with that, but I thought he had a good game in that general sense.

“We’re frustrated to drop two. We feel like we’ve dropped two points today.”

The Imps now have a week off before the visit of Cardiff City, the league leaders, who won their sixth game in seven this afternoon. The victory came courtesy of a 90th-minute goal from Joel Bagan, their fourth in a 4-3 win against Doncaster Rovers.
