The Imps have been linked with Derby County striker Kayden Jackson by less-than-reputable outlets, a rumour widely shared by the Imps fanbase.
Indeed, some of the more recognised voices in the Imps online community have shared the rumour, which only pours fuel on the fire. However, it is my understanding that the rumour is 100% false, and really shouldn’t have been given any screentime at all by those who know better.
“But you’re doing it now,” some might say. Yeah, that’s right, because I’ve been messaged four or five times by people asking if it is true! Once this nonsense forces its way into my Christmas, it really needs addressing.
I’m not the only one reacting to the rumour. While not explicitly referencing Jackson, chairman Clive Nates also spoke out about this time of year over on Bluesky yesterday. He said, “Silly transfer rumours already started, and the window isn’t even open. It’s really not difficult to spot what’s made-up nonsense.” That’s not a direct rebuttal of the rumour, but in fairness, it does feel like it might be related.
I miss you Kayden Jackson.

31-year-old Jackson was linked with the Imps back in the days of Danny Cowley, and while he’s had a decent career, with regular Championship football recently, he wouldn’t see like the sort of player that could fit into our side. I saw it likened to James Collins, but there are clear differences – we needed a striker last winter, and this winter, I don’t think the requirement is as pressing.
Also, James Collins scored a lot of goals in his career, whereas Jackson has never been prolific, only hitting double figures twice in his career. I’m sure he’s a decent player, and I’m sure some clubs will be looking at him, but for us and what we need? Absolutely not.
To be really clear, it is my understanding that chatter linking us to Kayden Jackson is nothing but a silly internet rumour, shared on social media and gathering traction with zero basis at all.
