Michael Skubala Makes Squad Rotation Admission Ahead Of Bolton Clash

Michael Skubala has said the Imps will need the whole squad for the remaining 16 games of the season, despite being unchanged in four.

Big wins against Bradford, Burton, Wigan and Plymouth have seen City keep the pressure up on leaders Cardiff City, with the same starting XI for each. With Ben House and Tom Bayliss on the recovery trail, that is surely something that will change over the coming games.

We now face two matches in four days, both at home, and Michael confirmed in his Imps+ press conference that they’re doing as much as they can to help the current squad stay in form.

“There are lots of things we can help them with, but ultimately it comes down to the players keeping that form,” said Michael. “They have done it brilliantly so far. It is about attacking every game, staying focused on the detail, the principles, and the basics of the game.

“Sometimes players come off form because they forget the basics. We keep reminding them that if you do the basics really well, the rest will come, and your qualities will show.”

There have been some solid performances of late, and everybody appears in form, which might account for the slightly more attacking starting XI against Plymouth. House and Bayliss both came off the bench, the latter catching the eye with an all-action display, and they’re part of a group of players Michael says are ready and raring to get into the first team picture.

“There is also another group chomping at the bit to get into the team,” he added. “They are training really well, and we are going to need them over these next 10 games.

“I am conscious we have gone four games without really changing the starting line-up, but that will have to change in the coming weeks. We want to get the best out of the squad, which I think is one of the strongest I have had here.

“We will need everyone.”

City seemingly go into tomorrow’s encounter with no new injury worries, meaning only Adam Jackson, Oscar Thorn, and long-term absentee James Collins will miss out.
