Blackpool Suffer Major Injury Blow As Obafemi Season Ends

Blackpool’s January loan signing Michael Obafemi will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a significant ankle injury, according to the Blackpool Gazette.

The 25-year-old forward, on loan from Burnley, was forced off before half-time during the 4-0 defeat to Plymouth Argyle. Scans have since confirmed a high ankle tear that requires surgery, bringing his short stint at Bloomfield Road to a premature end.

Obafemi, who spent the first half of the campaign with VfL Bochum, made five appearances for Blackpool but struggled to build momentum before injury struck.

Head coach Ian Evatt described the setback as another tough blow in what has been an injury-hit season, admitting the club has rarely been able to select from a fully fit squad. He also confirmed that fellow January arrival Kamarl Grant has similarly seen his spell cut short, compounding selection problems.

Evatt did offer some encouragement elsewhere, revealing that Dale Taylor is progressing in his recovery and that George Honeyman is expected back in contention shortly, though Joel Randall will be unavailable due to parent club restrictions.
