Weather once again disrupted the local non-league schedule this weekend, but there was still plenty of drama for Lincolnshire’s sides.
While Brigg Town saw their trip to Selby postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, others were in action and delivered late goals, derby drama and vital points.
Brigg’s enforced break means another fixture to squeeze into an already tight calendar, but elsewhere there was no shortage of talking points.
Gainsborough Trinity were the only side in their division to take to the field, travelling to Whitby Town with their eyes firmly on the play-off places. Trinity started brightly and looked the stronger side early on, yet it was Whitby who struck first on 22 minutes. Rather than wilt, Gainsborough responded positively and were rewarded just before the interval when Sisa Tuntulwana slotted home his 10th goal of the season to level matters.
The second half was largely one-way traffic, Trinity pressing and probing but struggling to find the breakthrough. It appeared the contest would finish all square, only for Ashley Jackson to produce a dramatic moment in the 94th minute, volleying beyond the keeper to snatch all three points. The win moves Gainsborough to within one point of the play-offs and keeps momentum firmly on their side.

In the United Counties League Premier North, Grantham Town hosted Skegness Town in a fiercely contested local derby. Lewis Darlington opened the scoring for Grantham in the 16th minute, but Skegness responded well. Dec Johnson equalised on 34 minutes and then struck again in the 47th, seemingly putting the visitors in control. The lead lasted barely a minute, Lee Shaw equalising immediately to send the sides into the break at 2-2.
That setback appeared to knock Skegness’ momentum. Grantham emerged with renewed intensity in the second half, Sean Wright firing them ahead on 54 minutes. Darlington then added two late goals in the 84th and 89th minutes to complete his hat-trick and secure a 5-2 victory. The result lifts Grantham alongside Boston Town in the division and underlines their growing form.
Elsewhere, Stamford faced St Ives Town in a crucial clash at the wrong end of the table. St Ives began strongly and even had an effort cleared off the line, but Stamford grew into the game and took a deserved lead when Cashmore collected the ball midway inside the opposition half, drove forward and finished calmly.
The second half was disrupted when the referee suffered an injury and had to be replaced by the senior assistant, resulting in an additional 20 minutes of stoppage time. Stamford kept their focus, and Cooke added a second to seal a valuable win in their fight against relegation.
Despite the weather intervening in one corner of the county, Lincolnshire football still delivered late winners, derby drama and significant movement in the tables.
