League One Latest: One Out At Leyton Orient, Blackpool Have More Injury Agony

Leyton Orient goalkeeper heads out on loan

Leyton Orient goalkeeper Noah Phillips has joined Chelmsford City on an initial 28-day loan deal.

The move was confirmed on the club’s official website, with the 21-year-old linking up with the National League South side to gain further senior experience. Phillips has already spent time out on loan this season and could make his debut this weekend.

For Orient, short-term loans of younger players are about development rather than immediate League One impact, but they do reflect squad planning decisions. Sending a goalkeeper out suggests clarity in the pecking order and confidence in the options currently retained at Brisbane Road.

“I’m really happy we’ve been able to act quick and bring Noah in on loan, a huge thank you to Leyton Orient what have helped us out after Joe Wright’s injury on Saturday,” said Chelmsford boss Angelo Harrop.

“Noah brings experince of the level already and has been in the full time environment so will hopefully fit straight in.

“I’m looking forward to working with him, starting tonight as he makes his debut.’

In a tight promotion race, stability in key positions such as the goalkeeper is crucial. Orient’s willingness to loan Phillips indicates they feel secure enough in that department to allow him competitive minutes elsewhere.
