Doncaster Rovers: McCann Coy on Okoronkwo Derby Return

Doncaster manager Grant McCann has refused to confirm whether Everton loanee Frankie Okoronkwo will feature in the derby at Rotherham.

The striker, who began his loan spell brightly after returning from a separate stint at Lincoln earlier in the season, has missed five matches with a hamstring problem. McCann confirmed he has returned to training but stopped short of guaranteeing involvement.

“He has had another training session, which is pleasing. So he’s getting closer, which is good for us.

“You’ll have to wait and see.

“It will be great to have him back. He gives us a different sort of option at the top end of the pitch.”

Rovers have not won a league game at Rotherham since 1985, losing 13 of their last 14 visits. McCann, though, insisted history is not his concern, focusing instead on performance levels as his side look to strengthen their position in 18th.

  1. Absolute disgrace, I’ve watched this back a dozen or more times and there’s absolutely no doubt that Kenny could have avoided kicking Paudie O”Connor in the face. Red card every day of the week.
