Lincoln City have moved to strengthen their off-field structure with the appointment of a new first-team scout.

Kenny Morrison has confirmed he has joined the Imps in a recruitment role, bringing extensive experience from across Scotland and the English Football League.

Morrison announced the move publicly, describing the opportunity as one he had been waiting for before adding that it was now time to get to work. His arrival bolsters City’s talent identification network at a time when recruitment continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the first-team squad.

Morrison arrives with a broad background in scouting and recruitment strategy. He most recently worked as Chief Scout at Elgin City, where he built a recruitment department from scratch and contributed to the acquisition phase of the club’s overall strategy. That followed senior talent identification roles at Dumbarton and Cowdenbeath, the latter seeing him create and structure an entire scouting network, develop reporting templates and formalise internal processes.

His CV also includes spells operating within England’s professional pyramid. During the 2021/22 campaign, he worked as a consultant scout in Scotland for AFC Wimbledon, before taking up a regional first-team scouting remit with Doncaster Rovers in 2022/23. Earlier in his pathway, he began building experience in talent identification and analysis with Forfar Athletic.

Morrison holds a strong portfolio of qualifications in scouting and performance analysis. He is qualified to PFSA Level 2 in Talent ID, Technical Scouting and Performance Analysis, while also holding the Scottish FA’s Talent ID Level 1 and Level 2 awards, alongside the FA’s Talent ID Level 1 certification. He has previously undertaken consultancy work for Dinamo Tbilisi, expanding his network beyond the UK market.

Bet you didn’t expect to see a Dinamo Tbilisi image in a City article today, did you?

The addition of Morrison represents a further step in strengthening the club’s recruitment infrastructure. With the modern game increasingly shaped by data, structured scouting networks and long-term planning, enhancing talent identification capacity is vital to maintaining competitiveness in League One.

As City continue to refine their squad-building model, the arrival of an experienced operator who has built multiple recruitment departments from the ground up signals a clear intent to keep evolving behind the scenes as well as on the pitch.
