Two years ago, Ethan Erhahon was at the heart of Lincoln City’s push towards the top six, one which ultimately ended in failure.
He secured a summer move to Bolton Wanderers with promotion and the Championship in mind, and is now looking up as City sit in the top two, holding off the Trotters.
He’s playing a central role for Steven Schumacher’s side, but when quizzed about their promotion chances this season, he was given the opportunity to reflect on the Imps and our attempts to reach the promised land of the second tier.
He pointed to our recruitment in the summer as being key to our recent good form.
“I think they’ve recruited a lot of experience in the summer,” he told The Bolton News. “The season before last, we came really close to the play-offs, and it was probably just a lack of experience that cost us.
“They’ve obviously recruited well in that department this season, so I think if they go on to win the last 12 games and the gap doesn’t get any smaller, you have to hold your hands up and say fair play to them, really.”

We have signed experience in Bradley and Reach, but much of the squad is the same as last season. His observations are fair, but I don’t think it was a lack of experience that cost us, more a lack of wins before Michael Skubala came in.
Now, it is a lack of wins, certainly in recent weeks, that has left Bolton ten points and one game behind us, with 12 chances to catch us up. Erhahon knows it is going to be a big challenge.
“We’ll do our best to hunt them down and put all pressure on them. Obviously, we don’t play them again, so hopefully other teams can take points off them. You’ve seen a couple of results on Tuesday night, Burton beating Stockport.
“There are teams that are capable of it, and we just have to focus on our game, obviously. We need to win as many games as possible, and then see what happens.”
This weekend, they face a tricky trip to Exeter City, while we host a Blackpool side hunting their first away win since December 20th, but fresh off the back of a 2-2 draw with the Trotters.
