Nolan Rejects Apology After Port Vale Defeat

The Northampton Chronicle reports that Cobblers players apologised to Kevin Nolan following their 1-0 defeat to Port Vale.

Jayden Stockley’s first-half stoppage-time strike left Town facing mounting pressure with 12 games to go. Nolan revealed his squad approached him after the match, but he made clear he did not want or expect that reaction.

“They came to me after the game and apologised for losing but I don’t need that and I don’t want that and I don’t expect it.

“They felt the heat of it the other night but I don’t need it because I’ve been in these situations before and I’m big enough and ugly enough to take that on my shoulders. I just want the lads to go out there and play the way I want my teams to play and keep giving me 100 per cent.”

With a derby against Peterborough next, Nolan has framed it as a potential turning point in their season. Northampton remain in the mix, but the margin for error is thinning.
