Match 4
Sa 20 Dec 2025 – Cardiff – 2-1 (H)
Sa 19 Jan 2019 – Grimsby – 1-0 (H)
Two big home wins, and both on bloody cold days as well! The Cardiff win was huge. Battling a giant of the division and coming away with a 2-1 win was great, especially as we bounced back after conceding.
The win against Grimsby, where I think it snowed early on, looked certain from the start, Harry Toffolo scoring after 12 minutes, and was compounded when they had a man sent off.

Match 5
Fr 26 Dec 2025 – Stockport – 2-1 (A)
Tu 22 Jan 2019 – Yeovil – 2-0 (A)
Two big away wins. Stockport was obviously a late penalty from Rob Street, but no less than we deserved after the hosts got one of their own. It was also a big Boxing Day win, something that stopped a run of consecutive Boxing Day defeats outside Covid times that started at Crewe in 2018.
Danny Rowe bagged both in the win at Yeovil, a horrible season for them as it ended their 16-year stay in the Football League.

Match 6
Mo 29 Dec 2025 – Barnsley – 2-0 (A)
Sa 26 Jan 2019 – Bury – 3-3 (A)
I remember the Bury match being on TV and watching it with my Dad. Scott Wharton had been recalled by Blackburn and loaned to them and it was a clash of styles, the best team in the division with the ball, against the best team without it. Some things never change. We led through Danny Rowe, Jay O’Shea levelled for them before Chris Stokes own goal gave us a 2-1 lead. Nicky Adams cancelled that out before half time, but a John Akinde penalty has seemingly given us the win, before Will Aimson levelled in the 86th minute.
This season, Barnsley away was one I also watched on TV, Tom Hamer and an Adam Reach peach giving us the win.

Match 7
Th 01 Jan 2026 – Huddersfield – 1-1 (H)
Sa 02 Feb 2019 – Notts Co – 1-1 (A)
How odd, match seven of the run and it’s 1-1 all round. In both, our opponents took the lead, Jon Stead scoring after two minutes for County, and Leo Castledine bagging after 61 for the Terriers. In both, we fought back. John Akinde missed his only penalty of the season, but Bruno Andrade got us back on terms before half time. Adam Reach, tapping in from close range, did the same against the Terriers.
