Match 12

Sa 31 Jan 2026 – Wigan – 1-0 (A)
Sa 02 Mar 2019 – Forest Green – 2-1 (A)

Two away wins by a single goal. One might argue Forest Green away was a bigger win, because of the history between the clubs. John Akinde scored twice, the second a penalty, as we pushed up the table. This season, Jack Moylan only needed to score once, but the same outcome ensued – three points and +1 in the goal difference column.

Match 13

Sa 07 Feb 2026 – Plymouth – 4-1 (A)
Fr 08 Mar 2019 – Yeovil – 1-0 (H)

Mark O’Hara scored against Yeovil. I want to say this was on the box as well, hence the Friday night, but I might be wrong. This means we played the team that was eventually relegated twice in the run in 2018/19. This season, the win at Plymouth was super impressive. Perhaps we were a tad fortunate that they had Tolaj out, and Pepple went off, but it was a big trip, and plenty of fans went along.

Match 14

Sa 14 Feb 2026 – Bolton – 1-1 (H)
Tu 12 Mar 2019 – Oldham – 2-0 (H)

Paul Scholes took his final game as Oldham manager as we won 2-0. Jose Baxter was sent off before half-time, and we bagged either side of the break, Harry Toffolo getting one, and Danny Rowe grabbing the other. You forget how influential Rowe was for us in that season.

Another Lancashire team came long for a contest this season, and it’s the only game in ten we haven’t won. Bolton needed the win to steal back some points, but they had to wait until the 82nd minute to cancel out Jack Moylan’s opener for us.

Match 15

Tu 17 Feb 2026 – Northampton – 4-0 (H)
Mo 18 Mar 2019 – Mansfield – 1-1 (A)

In 2018/19, Mansfield scored first in what was a proper top-of-the-table clash. They led for 71 minutes before John Akinde popped a penalty away to earn us a point. Jorge Grant and Tyler Walker were in the Mansfield side.

The corresponding game in this run was Northampton at home, 4-0 and one of the most one-sided games of football we’ve seen this season, or indeed in 2018/19.
