Jamie Sterry urges calm before Doncaster v Blackpool clash

Doncaster Rovers defender Jamie Sterry has called for composure ahead of a crucial League One relegation battle against Blackpool.

Saturday’s meeting at the Eco-Power Stadium could have major implications at the bottom of the table, with Blackpool currently sitting inside the relegation places and Doncaster only two points above the drop zone.

Sterry believes recent performances have been encouraging even if results have not fully reflected them.

“The performances have been really good and we just need to put those performances into wins,” Sterry said. “We are together as a good unit at the training ground and on the pitch and hopefully we can keep going in the right direction.”

“We have 11 games to go and we need to try and win as many as we possibly can. We create chances and we just need to put it in the back of the net and keep it out of our net.”

With both sides desperate for points, the defender admitted the pressure is rising but insisted the squad must embrace the challenge.

“It’s all about hard work and when the pressure does come, you deal with the pressure and work through it,” he said. “Saturday is the most important game and we will do everything we possibly can to win.”
